Power Equipment and Electrical Machinery Development Institute – PEEMADI, Okene
PEEMADI as an institute is into research and development of power equipment such as step-down transformers, inverter, generators as well as electrical machinery such as photovoltaic cells and generation simulation labs, electric switch gears and digital signs with the aim of transferring the acquired technology to small and medium scale enterprises.
Power Equipment and Electrical Machinery Development Institute (PEEMADI) was established in 2004 as an institute that is a section of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) under the federal ministry of science and technology (FMST) in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The institute was established to be centre of excellence in the design, production and repairs of power equipment and electrical machines required to make Nigeria self-sufficient in power transmission and distribution.
Currently PEEMADI Okene has a Staff strength of over 100 comprising of Engineers, Scientists, Technologists and Administrative.
PEEMADI’s Vision
To become a Centre of Excellence dedicated to total local development of capacity and capability to support electric power generation, transmission, distribution and management.
PEEMADI’s Mission
Creation and promotion of an enabling environment for nurturing creativity and innovation that will generate new ideas for design, maintenance and manufacturing of power equipment that will ensure the growth of the power sector, to support and galvanize the country’s industrialization and human development.
PEEMADI’s Mandate
To develop and nurture the capacity and capability required for the development and maintenance of electric power equipment and electrical machinery capable of making the nation self-sufficient in generation, transmission and distribution of electricity.
