The Engineer Per Excellence, Engr. Prof. M. S.Haruna FAEng, FNSE, FIET, Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) gave the charge during the opening ceremony of a one (1) week capacity building training on Information Communication Technology (ICT) at the Nasarawa State College of Health, Science and Technology, Keffi, Nasarawa State, on Monday 25th April 2022.
Following the law upgrading the School of Health to the College of Health, Science and Technology, the institution solicited the support of NASENI in the areas of capacity building of staff and students, supplies of educational equipment, and interventions that are geared towards the growth and development of the Institution. In response, NASENI organized the one-week capacity building training for Staff of the Institution on ICT and Health Information Management tools for teaching and work productivity.
While admonishing the trainees to use the opportunity to advance their capacity in Information Communication Technology, the EVC/CE ably represented by the Deputy Director, Technical Services, NASENI Headquarters, Engr. Dr. Kaisan Muhammad said that ICT plays a critical role in improving the quality of treatment, securing personal medical information, and in the day-to-day assistance of patients.
He assured them that the resource persons are professionals in the field of ICT, and is certain that after the program, the trainees will change their pattern of work in line with modern standards and mode of operations.
On his part the Provost, College of Health Science and Technology Keffi, Dr. Sulaiman A. Muhammed thanked NASENI for creating an enabling environment for the domestication of science, engineering, and technology in Nigeria and promised to utilize the knowledge acquired for the advancement of the college, its staff, and students.
The Executive Chairman, Keffi Local Government Council, Hon. Muhammad Baba Shehu who served as the special guest said the training came at a time when it is needed and encouraged participants to use the opportunity to broaden their horizons for the betterment of the Nasarawa Community.
The trainees were derived from the apex health Institutions of Nasarawa such as Federal Medical Centre Keffi, Dalhatu Arab Specialist Hospital Lafia, College of Health Science and Technology Keffi amongst others. You may recall that the EVC/CE, Engr. Prof. M. S. Haruna FAEng, FNSE, FIET, was the Chairman of the Steering Committee for the Establishment of the Faculty of Engineering Nasarawa State University, Keffi, and the upgrade of the School of Health to College of Health, Science and Technology, Keffi, Nasarawa State.
