
The drums of celebration were rolled out and chants of congratulations reverberated across the Nation as NASENI Solar Energy Limited (NSEL) celebrated its tenth anniversary since its registration as a Limited Liability Company of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI). The epoch event took place on Friday, 10th of March 2023 at the Multipurpose Hall of NSEL in Karshi, Abuja.
The landmark event which was graced by The Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive of NASENI, Engr. Prof. M.S. Haruna, OFR, NSEL Board Members, Management and Staff of NASENI and NSEL as well as Partners of NSEL began with the commisioning of the Staff Sporting facility, exhibition of past and present developed projects and services, presentation of awards and a celebratory reception.
The EVC in his remarks thanked the Managing Director and the entire staff for living up to expectations and actualizing the vision of NSEL. While recounting the hurdles the Agency under his leadership faced in the registration and running of NSEL, the EVC expressed his joy as the company under the stewardship of Engr. Dr. J. O Mahmud has become Nigeria’s leading indigenous solar manufacturing company. He further stated that NSEL’s production capacity will soon experience a massive increase as a result of the Presidential directive and approval for the Establishment of a Solar Cells Manufacturing Plant as one of the Power Projects NASENI is partnering with the China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC).
Haruna ended his remarks by charging the MD and Staff to keep the momentum going and the flag of excellence flying as they continue their assignment of national development.
On his part, Managing Director and Chief Executive (MD/CE) Engr. Dr. J. O. Mahmud FNSE, MNIMechE appreciated the Agency management under the leadership of Prof. Haruna for the trust bestowed on him to spearhead transformational change in NSEL and for the continued support NSEL receives that has helped in actualizing the mission and vision of the company.
He said the vision is to be a world-class Solar Photo-Voltaic Technology Company with a mission “To avail the Nigerian community, the ECOWAS sub-region and beyond, high quality, globally competitive, Solar Photo-Voltaic Products and services”.
The climax of the event included the unveiling and commissioning of staff sporting equipment by the EVC, presentations of awards, showcasing NSEL’s developed products and services, as well as the cutting of the cake to commemorate the anniversary.
You may recall that NSEL is wholly owned by the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), a Federal Government Parastatal. The company has a 7.5MW/annum Solar PV Module manufacturing plant capacity. It was established initially as Karshi Solar Panel Plant (KSPP) in 2011 and later registered in March 2013 as NASENI Solar Energy Limited at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
