S.Haruna, Chief Executive Officer, De Lorenzo SPA, Dr.Matteo Prosperi and the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr.Abdullahi Sule during the handing over of engineering equipment donated to the University by the Italian firm, facilitated by NASENI

True to the pledge made during an MoU signing ceremony recently, the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO NASENI, Engr. Professor Mohammed Sani Haruna has donated both Electrical & Electronics Engineering training equipment to support the emerging Engineering Faculty of the Nasarawa State University, (NSUK), Keffi.

The technical training equipment from De Lorenzo Engineering Training Solutions was facilitated by the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) as part of the MoU between NSUK and NASENI to work together in the areas of science, research and Engineering development,technology capacity building amongst others.

Prof.Haruna said the relationship with De Lorenzo dated way back in 1993 while he carried out machines and equipment prospecting for Kaduna polytechnic.

The Vice Chancellor of NSUK, Prof. Bala Mohammed who was highly elated by the donation thanked Prof. Haruna and NASENI for facilitating the donation of the technical equipment from De Lorenzo.

Speaking at the official presentation of the equipment at the University, Keffi, Nasarawa state, the Executive Governor of Nasarawa state, Engr. Abdullahi Sule who was visibly happy at the donation said the equipment marked the beginning of a strong relationship between the state, NASENI, the University and De Lorenzo.

He said the presence of NASENI as the facilitator of De Lorenzo in Nasarawa state would encourage the state to do more in working with the company in the areas of capacity building, vocational and technical education.

According to him, ” the collaboration will endeavour the state to boost it’s technical and vocational education.

Governor Sule said “My administration has interest in the development of technical and vocational education.”

He however promised that the state, NASENI and De Lorenzo will continue to partner to make Nasarawa State University a world class institution.

In his address, the Executive Vice Chairman/CE of NASENI, said his long lasting relationship with De Lorenzo motivated him to request for support from the company in order to donate engineering equipment toward the upcoming faculty of Engineering in the University.

His words:
“This gesture is part of our identification with the programmes and projects of His Excellency, Abdullahi Sule in capacity building and employment generation of which Technical and Vocational Education and the establishment of Engineering Faculty at the University constitute an integra part.

He said De Lorenzo obliged our request and are here today to donate vital Engineering Laboratory equipment and training toward meeting the training requirement of the University.”

He noted that NASENI would also emulate De Lorenzo and will be donating it’s own equipment as soon as its orders arrived, including technology products from NASENI Institutes.

Also in his speech, the CEO of De Lorenzo Dr. Matteo Prosperi said with the donation of the world class engineering training equipment and future services to the university, the university’s vision to be a World Class Center of Excellence would be realized.

The Executive Governor of Nasarawa State who received the equipment on behalf of the school said the engineering development was in consonance with the strategic agenda of the Governor through the Nasarawa Economic Development Strategy.

He said the strategy has great emphasis on human capital development. ” This is a fundamental “Game Changer” and a key enabler of the state’s vision to be among the top three most competitive States in Nigeria by 2023.”

The Governor therefore called on the students to make use of the conducive learning environment being created for them at the University.
