The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has organised a one-day sensitization training to educate its staff on effective use of newly upgraded E-Library.
Speaking during the opening ceremony of the training, which took place on Wednesday, 28th May 2025, at the Agency’s Headquarters in Abuja, the Coordinating Director of Planning and Business Development, Dr. Mrs. Nonyem Onyechi, commended NASENI’s EVC/CEO, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, for transforming the agency’s traditional library into a fully equipped digital E-Library.
She praised the initiative as a vital step towards bridging research gaps and driving national development through innovation and technology. “The E-Library is now furnished with E-books, E-journals, copies of NASENI Watch magazines, and modern tools like mini projectors,” Dr. Onyechi noted.
“We must appreciate the EVC for digitalizing the NASENI Library to foster science and engineering research,” she explained, adding that the training was aimed at equipping staff with the necessary skills to access and navigate the E-Library using access cards, encouraging participants to take full advantage of the platform.
Also speaking at the event, Director of Technology and Business Development, Engr. Bernard Ozigi, who doubles as Special Assistant to the EVC on General Matters, emphasized that while the NASENI Library existed before Mr. Halilu’s leadership, the recent digital transformation has aligned it with current research needs and technological standards.
A 30-minute presentation by Director of Planning and Policy Analysis, Dr. MacDonald Aloko, detailed the role and relevance of libraries in modern society. He guided participants on how to access research materials through the E-Library and explained the segmented access system, which allows two groups to utilise the library for four hours per day.
The event was climaxed with a dynamic question and answer session, providing further insights and clarifying participants’ inquiries on E-Library use and its advantages.
