The Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu has appointed Engr. Dr. Samuel Olugbenga Oloruntoba Olusunle, PhD, FNSE, FNIMechE, FNMS, FNIM, FNMGS, R.Eng, as the new Overseeing Officer of the Power Equipment and Electrical Machinery Development Institute (PEEMADI), Okene, a division of the Agency.
He takes over from Engr. Yisah Yakubu Adajah, who retired from the system on September 15, 2025 following the attainment of the retirement age of 60 years. Dr. Olusunle until his appointment was a Research Director with the Agency.
Dr. Olusunle has more than thirty (30) years of professional experience in engineering management, research, academia and public service. He is a registered engineer with COREN and COMEG and will no doubt bring his wealth of experience into continuing with the transformation agenda of the EVC/CEO in making the Agency a pedestal for the nation’s industrialisation.
He was the former Managing Director at the Engineering Materials Development Institute (EMDI), Akure, also a division of Agency, where he exercised strategic leadership in industrial partnership, technological development and research. He has made major contributions to engineering education, institutional development, and policy formulation while holding prominent posts at tertiary institutions and at NASENI.
He is a seasoned administrator, researcher and technocrat who has written many academic works, delivered technical papers at national and international fora and established successful partnerships with businesses, universities, and international organisations like the World Bank and the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO). In carrying out his responsibilities, the Agency anticipates his extensive experience, demonstrated leadership, and dedication to promoting national development via research, technology, and innovation. Dr. Olusunle graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife with a Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degree in Materials Science and Engineering and credentials in data processing and public administration.
